need advice
aiight guys... im gonna be runnin a vf34 turbo with sti injectors and a walboro fuel pump.. i already have the turboback exhaust. dp, and up... but my main concern will be how the tranny will hold up.... and depending on driver how long will the stock trans hold... and is there anything else i can do besides gettin an sti trans.....just threw some feedback on how ur tranny is goin with the same setup.. thankz
it will largely depend on how you drive. Local we've got someone who was pushing low 12's with their car and never blew the stock tranny. . . and another fellow that's got 80K @ stage3 and 10K at stage4 putting him close to 100K at stage 4. He's on the same stock tranny. I've heard it time and time again that it's the person driving more than it is the power. While I doubted this at first i'm starting to accept it as truth after seeing high-mileage stock trannys pushing masive power and dozens of trips to the track.

I'd say if you don't take it to the track every weekend and just use it as a daily driver then it will hold up fine. Being easy on the tranny is always a good thing. Now people that drop the clutch for a luanch or go to the track often will need an upgraded tranny...
They are right, drive smoothly and your tranny will last. From all the people I have spoken to, those who have broken their tranny are the ones that drive hard and shift hard (mis-shift at times) and honestly they don't even have that many mods on them. Personally I want to launch my WRX and not shift hard therefore I'm going to get the STi RA 5 speed cryogenically treated gearset it should be a direct replacement. According to what I have heard the 1st gear can take the punishment of hard launched .... Just love those AWD launches =)
