drive very conservatively and don't boost till it runs out. and run it till the light comes on.

too late about not boosting. My mom didnt tell me what she did. so when i got the car back i just drove it like usual. Its when i went with her a few days later to get gas with her that she went to put some 87 in, while i was getting stuff out the back and i said waaaaaite. she said shes been putting it in because it was cheaaaaaper. ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. one of my friends said to use injector cleaner and a boost addative. hopfully i'll be ok. laters mikal

you would need a lot of bottles of octane booster. is your car stock or modified?

Get a few gallons of race fuel, pour it in the tank, that should bring octane levels back to norm. Then if you notice any more problems in the future, take it back to the dealership and tell them it just started doing that for no reason. They'll fix it under warranty.

Drive carefully. That hesitation is knock. Get some high octane in there quick. Good luck. Oh yeah btw, tell your mom, a little more at the pump is cheaper than an engine. You should be ok though. I think in the owners manual it tells you that if you have to you can run low octane just drive conservitivly and get better gas as soon as you can

If you're stock the car will have NO PROBLEM with 87. If you're on a map tuned for 93 - well then yea, that's really bad. Stock the rex will run noticeably slower on 87 - but you won't damage the engine.

I didn't realize putting in 87 octane gas into a WRX was that bad. Good thing i've never put anything below 91 in mine.

You are mistaken. On a hot day under load, sometimes stock WRX's ping, even on 91! 87 is a big nono for any turbo'd car. And octane boosters dont do crap but foul plugs. Goto a race shop that sells 100octane fuel. Buy 5 gallons and dump that in the tank.

Don't let mom even near the STI when you get it.
