My COBB daydream...dyno'd @ Tuning Technologies
My COBB daydream...dyno'd @ Tuning Technologies
Yes, that right....in the midst of all this COBB talk, I dyno my COBB stage 2 WRX @ Tuning Technologies in So. Cal earlier today. Mods are Helix uppipe, Helix cat "less" downpipe, Borla XR-1 catback running COBB's California 91 octane map. This is a DynoJet dyno....and to say the least, Im very dissappointed. It pulls great on the street, but the dyno numbers dont show that....oh well. Below are my Stage 1 & 2 graphs. I took out the stage 1 graph...couldnt get it to resize. My Stage 1 put down 191whp 194trq @ Harman Motive with CF:SAE Smoothing 5...it only hit 13psi on the dyno, so maybe thats why the numbers were low...
***I am the *only* WRX to dyno @ Tuning Technologies, so they dont know what stock ones put down. So, if you have a stock WRX, go there to dyno :-). They have dyno'd one other STI and it put down ~255whp ~270 some trq....but I dont know what all his mods were.***
*****218 whp 226 trq*****

I dynoed at 247whp at COBB in SLC at the dyno next door (same building) to their facilities (Modern Garage) who does their Dyno tuning for them I believe. I have a front mount, PDE up pipe down pipe and Tanabe Super Racing Medallion exhaust, Stock TUrbo, but I run a UTec with map selector. So don't worry Dynojets arent' the best. But I would get a down pipe if you don't already have one, that makes a big difference.
peak boost was ~16 psi....tapering to 12psi. Shiv is coming in late Feb early March so Im probably going Ecutek custom tune or the Xede. I really want to see the difference between the 2 first hand...and it looks like its going to happen soon enough.

So Mustang reads low? Then how do you explain the fact that Cobb's dyno charts (claiming 225 whp with just a tbe and AP) come from their in-house Mustang dyno? I just wondered. I hope to get my Cobb Stage 2+ (up and ic hoses) dynoed soon.

I can't really explain it, never seen cobb's dyno. could be setup differently but from all the local mustang dyno's i've seen they do read low. I dynoed at vishnu (dyno dynamics) and put down 294whp, then dynoed at gruppe-s (mustang) and put down 292whp.
