i was going to get them but then they say you need the tranny ones too. there is more noise and vibration when you put them on

i have both engine and tranny mounts and got them installed on the same day so i can't say what engine mount itself will do...

like sigma pi said, it increases cabin noise due to more vibration transfering over due to stiffer mounts, but with stiffer mounts you can put more of those power to the ground.

you know when you start your engine, the engine moves? with stiffer engine mounts less movement, more power to the tranny... and eventually more power to the ground

as for the mounts go check out www.mpjperformance.com or ask for mike on the phone.

if you live in bay area, CA call gbmotorsports for installs.

And that energy has to go somewhere... I was considering getting them but after giving some thought as to where the energy goes, I figured it puts more stress on an already dubious transmission. I'll put up with the power loss for having a transmission that lasts a bit longer

i assume u mean the polyurethane ones? my friend ordered the ones from spt.subaru.com, not sure if those are poly or not though. he's running basically a stock set up. . . but in terms of "subjectiveness" the car feels a little more solid in the "get go"
i may be wrong... but like i said-subjectively speaking.
try looking @ www.spt.subaru.com

given a crappy driver, sure, the tranny MAY last longer with squishy mounts.

i prefer to shift correctly AND have my mounts!

I installed the motor mounts & tranny mount at the same time and I love the way the car reacts now.

I tried taking mine out. The car ran like crap - so I put them back in.

I suggest keeping them.

It's not true that it put more power to the ground. It makes the engine react faster. Instead of the mounts compressing or moving it goes to the drive train faster. It get rid of some of the drivetrain wind up. I had to put a solid mount on my '56 Ford pu(built chevy 327). The motor would torque so much it would rip the motor mount. But, I had fun doing .

The energy gets transfered by the harden mounts to the chassis of your car ... if anything, I say it should be better for the transmission, since the engine no longer flops around, taking the transmission with it. With the mounts, everything stays in place as they should.
