Engine/Power - EJ20T (pre-2006 WRX and JDM) There is replacement for displacement, it is forced induction - OEM 2.0 liter turbo engines in the USDM WRX. 90-94 Legacy Turbo EJ22 turbo engines can also be discussed here.

MBC? - Do or Do Not, THAT is the Question.

If you want to go faster, either an MBC or EBC will definitely help. Tuning the EBC is on your part, and the rest I'm not sure of. Installing an MBC shouldn't be a problem. The amount of boost should not exceed 16psi on a stock turbo.

make sure you have AT LEAST!!! a boost guage if not also an EGT gauge...

dont go ver anythign 15.7-16.0 PSI
and i would suggest not doin it on a catted up pipe, i would replace the up pipe before puttin in an EBC or EBC

and if you plan to go EBC route, you should just spend the $ on a cobb reflash, it turns up your boost and makes the car run super smooth

I used to use a MBC and sinca I had all the cats I had to watch the boost guage all the time while on the freeway bc you build it way too fast. I took it off bc it was annoying but the car was fast

the only problem with a manual boost controler is partial throttle full boost.

its rather bad for the car, and it only happens with a MBC installed. The stock wastegate solenoid can control it ( it will only let you build full boost under 100% throttle )

I ran a mbc for a while, and the car was a lot better when I reflashed the car and allowed the ECU to control the boost

i ran a joe p for a long wile. id recomend getting that if you do go mbc. As for full boost part throttle just adjust your driving habits and you'll have no worries.

I wouldn't recomend a MBC. I had one on my 04 and it ran like crap and was slower than without it. The car runs much better without it. Save the money and get a reflash. $400 for 25 or HP. Hard to beat.

Both have reflashes. Cobb offers to AccessECU and Vishnu has the ECUtek. Both are good. Cobb's is a little less expensive.
