You can't beat

the STI for value. Period. But I like a high-revving 2.0 better than the the 2.5. If I replace my block, it will probably be with a 2.2 or 2.35 that is capable of high revs. I like the six-speed, but I like the five-speed better (with capable gears). Less time shifting is time saved.

It is an odd feeling tooling around town at 40mph, in 5th gear!

Get the sti. It will be less in the long run once you start adding up the brakes and suspension and Hid and engine mods. Plus you can leave it stock for awhile and still have a warranty.

Come on, once you have the bug to modify cars you can't resist. My wrx warranty was void within 24hrs of puchase and the STi would be the same way. Also the cost analysis is not correct. I only use cash I have on hand to mod my car. So $23,000 financed + $9000 in mods is cheaper than $32,000 financed. Also half of the fun for me is researching and deciding what parts I want adn installing them. The STi is a great car!!!!!!, but I would rather make the decision as to what mods and what priorities should be, not SOA or Subaru. So it come down to do you just want to buy a great car off the lot (their is nothing wrong with this) or do you really enjoy tinkering. The best of both worlds is to start with an STi and mod it the way you want, I just don't have that kind of cash.
