Wink Low end + Mid range HP

Hey guys, first time making a thread.

I was wondering what kind of mods can produce some low end and mid range HP.

I usually do autocross or mountain driving so I was trying to get a couple HP to power out of the turns, nothing serious. I could always work on the driver mod as well but I want something to back me up out of the turns like I said.

Thanks in advance.

(feel free to flame)

up-pipe will help boost to kick in a couple hundred rpms faster
down pipe will unlock some extra hp too
consider a light weight crank pulley. supposedly equivalent to removing 100lbs from your car

and there's no reason why we'd flame you, except next time try using the 'search' button

If you watch rally drivers in action, or do it yourself (I have been both co-driver and driver) they heel-and-toe to keep the motor at 3000+RPM in the turn, keeping the turbo spooled. A catless up-pipe and a good DP will help, but you really need to be at 4000-5000 RPM to come leaping out of that turn at full torque.

get an non-flex uppipe with the smallest diameter possible
get a 2.5" dp
get some engine mangement
get some headers

your low end torque will increase quite a bit

thanks everyone for their responses so far. Yeah i tried search but alot of things that came up were bigger turbo, but i am trying to steer away from that route right now. i have a titek flex uppipe installed currently. i noticed quicker spool with that right away. sounds like full exhaust is the way to go. but since headers were mentioned does anyone have recommendations of which brand to go?

I hear alot of good things about grimmspeed because they dont crack due to the flex pipe in the middle.

and as far as engine management, is cobb tuner the only option for a quick friendly flash or is there a better choice?

thanks everyone again.

up pipe and a down pipe, a tune from someone good, and for mid end power a good set of headers can help you out

tomei unequal length headers are nice. I have them on my car and they also come with an uppipe.

if you're going to get a dp and want that low to midrange torque, go with 2.5 inch. 3 inch is more for top end power. Though there aren't that many aftermarket 2.5 inch dp's to choose from.

oh and forgot to mention, you can port and polish your TD-04 (stock turbo)

some say its not worth it, but if u dont plan to swap out the turbo, might as well get the most from it

If you are looking for mis range tourque I would stay with the stock turbo for now. Work on driving style and ust try to stay within your power band or right around 3k rpm while you are in the turn. gear seection its all about gear selection. Maybe work on the suspension so you can carry more speed into the turns to = higher rpm's

yeah i've heard nothing but good stuff about tomei unequal length headers. i'm still not sure about going equal or unequal but tomei is what i'd go with for unequal, from what i've heard.
