lookin for a BOV

I am probably gonna do the intake silencer mod this weekend, but also wanna look into getting a aftermarket BOV. What ones do you guys/gals suggest. I was told by someone that a aftermarket BOV on the rex was pointless cause ours use a "return " system. I am assuming that means the extra boost pressure that would normally be vented off is recycled. Is that true? Can I still install a aftermarket BOV? Thanks.

yeah it is pointless. but the ones that are 50/50 or 100% rec. will do. go fast bits has 50/50 and worxs tuning has specifically made bov that are adjustible to 25, 50, 75, and 100 % recerculation i think. those are the ones that i have heard good things about. 100% atmospheric is bad because it will make your car run rich during each shift, which if you are catless you will shoot flames out our exhaust.

i wouldnt reccomend the worxs bov i had trouble with mine leaking at high boost (17psi)
i wouldnt run anything but the stock bov, even on a fmic thats my opinon, on a friends car he was all stock with a bov and his car would die from time to time cause of the bov, and its been said before by certain people that you loose mpg so its up to you if you want that swoosh or peep id go with a gfb or hks ssq

BOV's aren't exactly useful unless you're running an aftermarket turbo and/or more power than the stocker can/should handle. So when you do get to the point that you need one, consider a recirculating BOV -- it's good for our cars

BOV's are less than usefull on a fully computer controlled MAF sensored factory FI car using a recirc valve stock, usually they're harmfull. This has been covered on this forum alot, but here it is in a nutshell:

Everything about you're modern turbo engine is closely monitored and regulated by the ECU. This means that when you shift under boost, the ECU is expecting to see the air from the bypass valve in the intake, when it doesnt the engine bogs and you run rich for a second.

On top of that, bypass valves are the more performance orientated item. Why? Blow of valves release excess pressure into the atmosphere to prevent compressor stall, but the compressor is still pumping air out of the blow of valve. Recirc valves effectively connect the output and input of the compressor, closing the system, further reducing resistance on the compressor during a shift, which means when you get back on the throttle the turbo has more speed/momentum left in it which means boost comes back faster.

If you just have to have that cool sound, 50/50 valves are an ok compromise. Removing the intake silencer and using a loud aftermarket valve set to recirculate will also make it more audible.

if I get an aftermarket BOV with a recirculation kit, it wont make the noise will it?

I think I will just do the intake silencer mod.
