Engine/Power - EJ20T (pre-2006 WRX and JDM) There is replacement for displacement, it is forced induction - OEM 2.0 liter turbo engines in the USDM WRX. 90-94 Legacy Turbo EJ22 turbo engines can also be discussed here.

Jun 272 plus STi V7 valvetrain

Can I get away with the Jun 272 cams with the stock STi V7 valvetrain?

I have a EJ257 shortblock in my WRX and I don't plan on reving over 7,500 rpm.

TIA

Honestly, if your going to drive the car on the street daily I would recommend against the 272. Vacuum is about have of normal at idle and they really don't come on line until 63-6500rpm But the 264 cams have a really broad torque curve and only have .8mm less lift than the 272 cams.
Another good call by Jim.

Get some 264s and be happy. I wonder who sells those JUN cams?

Another question:

I've read a post where azscoobie mentioned using the 264's for the intake and the 272's for the exhaust. How would this be a benefit?

exhaust

The exhaust side of wrx heads are very restrictive. 272's would help there.
