Intercoolers
What kind of performance can I exspect from a front mount intercooler? And what if any Hp and TQ can be exspected?I have HKS Down pipe, HKS Carbon Ti full exsuast, Coldair intake, Greddy Profect B- Boost controller (a little higher than stock boost.) What kind of performance can I exspect from the moods Ive listed . Can anybody help me?

I don't get more lag on my turbo!
From what I have heard... All the items you have listed need to be tuned with your car. I have the up/dp and carbon ti hks exhaust w/boost set at 15.5. Oh, sti intercooler too. I will be at ATP to tune my car tommorow. I wonder if it will be faster after being tuned with a s-afc. I'll let u know what the #'s are, you pretty much have the same similar set-up.

well first off I am pretty suprised...
I got on the dyno at 11:30 first run w/ 220 max hp, 219 max torque. <thats at the wheels!>
I left at 12:30 w/ 223 max hp, 225 max torque. (not a big difference)
Obviously I was suprised to see such high #'s w/out tuning. I had it leaned out and boosted a pound higher and got minimal hp gains. Then I made it more rich and loss hp. The guy at ATP said my air/fuel ratio was one of very few wrx's to have a pretty leaned out ratio w/out tuning.
I left ATP w/ just a few more ponies in my car with tuning. I can not say tuning won't help, its just in my case it made a minimal difference. 223 isn't bad for a stock turbo anyways.
(it might be time for a bigger turbo)

he asked about front mount intercoolers iirc. your sti topmount doesnt qualify
you can definetely squeeze more out of the stock turbo if you wanted to. i'm making 235hp, 250ftlbs torque atw with stock turbo, pump gas, and stock intercooler and hoses. this is with the map left rich to protect from lean spikes that occur due to my intake. we made as much as ~245hp but didnt go farther and then left it a bit rich for safety.

A stock WRX with a FMIC will have more lag and without tuning and a larger turbo, fuel pump, injectors, exhaust will make no more power. I you want to spend $1000 get a Cobb stage 2 or Vishnu stage 0 and have a fast fun car. Stock WRX with FMIC = slow.
