Intercooler splitter questions

I have a TurboXS top mount intercooler on my '02 wrx. I just installed an APS air spliter that I hoped would fit the intercooler. The intercooler extends 1/3 of an inch past the left side of the bellows and 1 and 1/2 inch across the top. With this mutch of the intercooler unable to be cooled by incoming air I wanted to see if any one had a veiw contrary to my own that this is a good set up.This APS unitwill force air through the intercooler as opposed to letting air pass over it but I am unsure about whats being lost due to insufficant coverage, yet its certainly better with the splitter than without. The splitter itself is not in question as it definatly helps even the flow of air across the TMI and while I am confident this is a good setup I wanted to be extra sure that no one had any thoughts I may not have considered. Thanks
