Intercooler Choice for 03 WRX
Im looking to get a little more air into my beast but want to make sure it is necessary and what to look into getting for the best overall performance for price.
This is what i have on my car performance wise: Up pipe, Down pipe, exhaust, intake.
I was thinking of upgrading my intercooler to feed a little more air since i have the full opened up exhaust. I dont have much money to spend becuase i just got the pipes for my car so i was thinking of getting a used STI intercooler. What do you think of this? Does it bolt right on? any modification needed? Or do you suggest another intercooler set up?
Thanks
Will

I think you might be alittle confused as to what an intercooler does....it dooes not feed anymore air at all into the engine it cools down your exhaust air temps before the turbo crams it back into the engine. Colder air means more combustible air, more combustible air means more fuel can be added, more fuel added means bigger explosion, bigger explosion means wheels spin faster.
As far as the USDM STi intercooler goes, no it will not be a direct bolt on on an '03, close but not exact. the JDM STi intercooler is though....hope that helps!
ohh and get rid of that intake, put the stock one back on do the silencer delete and spend the $1000 you are gonna spend on something else like engine management or suspension mods if you already have EM

With all of the mentioned things you have I hope you forgot to mention EM. If you don't have it that should be your next purchase(Cobb,Ecutek...). Since you have the stock turbo, I assume, go with a JDM STi intercooler if you want to upgrade. You will need a tune for better performance though.
