I got helix up and down pipe both catless with the borla hush. It is much quietter than some of the other exhausts i've heard with my setup. compared to the helix catback or the blitz nur spec ... it's nothing. the loudness also fades in a couple of days, you wont even hear it no more

i have the catted stromung TBE, and while it's not exactly "stealth" sounding, it's definitely quieter than my old 3" magnaflow cat back. almost any exhaust with a high flow cat (or no cat) is going to sound raspier and a little louder than stock. have you looked into getting a silencer welded into your midpipe? i had to do that on my old magnaflow (wife mandated) and it took it down a few dB.

What downpipe are you using and did it bolt right up?

Arrow, who did your install? Is there any chance they skipped the resonator in the midpipe? That would make a big difference in how loud it was.

I too feel the same way about the Hush. After comparing it to my Vishnu twin tip turboback, the Hush is not "hush" at all!

if you want a tbe or rear section that is quite i would go with either the APS or Cobb set ups i work at a subaru performance shop in california called fineline imports and we do those all day long and they are not loud at all and sound great my exhaust is a JIC magic with aps up and down pipes and its pretty loud but our owner has a wagon with the cobb turbo back and its not that much louder then stock in my opinion. if you ahve any question send me a email at Ryan@finelineimports.net and visit our webiste at www.finelineimports.net

Arrow, the majority of people using the Borla Hush are using it as a true catback -- leaving their uppipe and d-pipe stock. If you have changed out any of the pipes ahead of the midpipe cat, you might have altered the dynamics of the system and made the Hush's dampening properties less effective. It is only "slightly louder than stock" when it is being used as a catback, leaving most of the stock exhaust in place.
