filling your coolant might be a good place to start.. and then check that it isnt leaking.

There is obviously a leak somewhere, this isn't normal. Is your car stock or have you done any mods, particularly the turbo. After a turbo install/swap it's not unusual to have leaks from the turbo coolant lines, check there. Also check all other hoses that carry coolant, as well as the radiator itself.

30000 miles and three different turbos and I have never seen my resivior dry. I take a long look for any leaks.

Check around the coolent lines for that dirty brown look of burnt coolent or dusty green if it evaporated at cooler temperatures. It should be pretty obviously from the amount you said went out.
