I dynoed my 04 WRX wagon
I dynoed my WRX last week just to see what it was making. I was pretty surprised by the results. Here's the dyno chart:
It's a stock 5 speed 04 WRX wagon, about 8000 miles on the clock, ambient temps were about 60-65 F, the dyno was a Dynojet 248C AWD dyno. These numbers seem a little high, are other 04s dynoing like this too, or is mine just a Wednesday car?

The higher numbers are due to the dyno.
Dynojets read REALLY high. Some cases as much as 40whp more than other dynos.

So far the oil changes and the 7500 mile service have been done at the dealer. I want to start running Mobil One synthetic but not till after 10k miles, maybe a bit later.
Mike, apparently my numbers were higher than the other stock WRXen that were run on that same dynojet - from what they told me, most stock WRxen run between 170-180 HP normally, on that dyno. I don't know if he's run any other 04s though. Of course now I want to take it to a drag strip to see what it'll run.
Has anybody else dynoed their 04 on a Dynojet? I'm just curious.
I dont know if it was a sales pitch or not but one of the salesmen at Renick Subaru in SoCal said that the 04s put about 10whp more than the 02-03 due to slight ECU changes.
I see your located in LA. Where did you get it dyno'd at and how much did they charge you? I have an 04 and i want to dyno it while its still stock.

What I find funny is that each consecutive runs is HIGHER. Now unless you're tuning between runs, usually they get lower because of heat issues.
Something's definitely fishy about those numbers.

i agree
Aren't you guys forgeting that the ECU's in the Subarus "learn" how you drive??
Thats why SCC reset the ECU and got like 20 less HP on there dyno.
Chris.
EDIT: What would be intresting is to see a datalog of these runs to see what temps where and how much the timing was retarted do to knock and or any other changes.

190's sound about right for a dynojet. Here's a simple excel file from Vishnu's site to compute your whp (roughly) using different dynos.

{edit} ummm now I'm confused; if you look at the times for the runs they don't correspond with the run #

#1 at 5:38 pm for 186.9/197.4 hp/tq
#2 at 5:40 pm for 188.4/199.9 hp/tq
#3 at 5:53 pm for 193.7/205.4 hp/tq
#4 at 5:54 pm for 194.7/208.0 hp/tq
And if you look at the midrange of the runs, the follow the same pattern as these peak numbers.
4 run in 16 minutes gaining 7.8/10.6 hp/tq with basically no time for cooldown. The shop was mucking with the dyno and didn't tell him. Dyno tricks... you provide the highest numbers (within reason) and your customers like you best.
fishy fishy
