Engine/Power - EJ20T (pre-2006 WRX and JDM) There is replacement for displacement, it is forced induction - OEM 2.0 liter turbo engines in the USDM WRX. 90-94 Legacy Turbo EJ22 turbo engines can also be discussed here.

I dynoed my 04 WRX wagon

The higher numbers are due to the dyno.

Dynojets read REALLY high. Some cases as much as 40whp more than other dynos.

I dont know if it was a sales pitch or not but one of the salesmen at Renick Subaru in SoCal said that the 04s put about 10whp more than the 02-03 due to slight ECU changes.

I see your located in LA. Where did you get it dyno'd at and how much did they charge you? I have an 04 and i want to dyno it while its still stock.

What I find funny is that each consecutive runs is HIGHER. Now unless you're tuning between runs, usually they get lower because of heat issues.

Something's definitely fishy about those numbers.

Aren't you guys forgeting that the ECU's in the Subarus "learn" how you drive??

Thats why SCC reset the ECU and got like 20 less HP on there dyno.

Chris.

EDIT: What would be intresting is to see a datalog of these runs to see what temps where and how much the timing was retarted do to knock and or any other changes.

Don't worry dude its just a fluke .... different dynos produce different nos. ... They probably need to retune their dyno

190's sound about right for a dynojet. Here's a simple excel file from Vishnu's site to compute your whp (roughly) using different dynos.

Actually if you read the color coded chart his second run was the best, the third and fourth run got lower and lower power figures {edit} ummm now I'm confused; if you look at the times for the runs they don't correspond with the run #

Um, sure they do:

#1 at 5:38 pm for 186.9/197.4 hp/tq
#2 at 5:40 pm for 188.4/199.9 hp/tq
#3 at 5:53 pm for 193.7/205.4 hp/tq
#4 at 5:54 pm for 194.7/208.0 hp/tq

And if you look at the midrange of the runs, the follow the same pattern as these peak numbers.

4 run in 16 minutes gaining 7.8/10.6 hp/tq with basically no time for cooldown. The shop was mucking with the dyno and didn't tell him. Dyno tricks... you provide the highest numbers (within reason) and your customers like you best.

fishy fishy
