How to take out the silencer in the stock intake?
Hey you guys, ive been hearing a lot about the debate on intakes, and wat not, whether to get them or not. But so far, mostly everyone has agreed that the stock intake is perfect. All we need to do is drop in a better filter and take out the silencer. But how do we take out that silencer? And will it affect the car at all, not in performance but in other aspects such as in the long run. Will takin the silencer out decrease engine life or anything like that? Thanks alot guys.

Silencer removal = no power gain, just noisier. A lot of members like the sound with the silencer removed.
Aftermarket intakes usually equals no power gain and possible MAF sensor readings going askew. What may work on other imports may not do anything for a subie. Our air boxes were designed for adequate flow above and beyond what an unmodded engine requires while keeping noise levels to a tolerable level.
