hey..
I just bought a 2002 WRX today.. getting it next week..
a wagon.. a 5spd, loaded.. no sunroof..
I would like to know if there is a quick way to raise the boost level safely..
I'm not sure what PSI they run now, but i would like to raise it a few psi..
Also any cheap quick things to go to make it more powerfull with out hurting anything??
K&N Drop in filter??
thanks

raising boost
U can run a manual boost controller(mbc, turbo xs, etc) or get an electronic type(hks evc 5, apexi avc-r, etc.). Personally I like the HKS EVC 5 Electronic boost controller with the HKS S-afr(Fuel/Air controller).
I've had it in my car for awhile now & I never ran into any problems before(knock, detonation, cel's, etc). But then again I'd never override the car's ecu to the max where I started experiencing problems.
From what I know, stock wrx turbines can handle upto 16psi but can't hold it there for too long. My understanding was that the stock turbine is too little(can't hold the boost up). In short, it will shoot up to 16psi then will dropped all the way back to 10psi.
Hopes this helps...

Performance gains...
I'd recommend Helix Flex Exhaust Manifold W/Flex Joint Up-pipe & HelixBellmouth Downpipe for starters. Then you can also get the Helix Catback Exhaust System to complete the whole set up.
Many people here doesn't recommend changing the stock exhaust manifold in favor of aftermarket ones since the aftermarket exhaust manifolds doesn't really have that "best bang for the back" type of performance gains.
From my experience, I have the GT-SPec V2 Exhaust manifold(same as Helix) w/up-pipe and I'm very happy with the result. I went for that set up b/c I got a great offer for it. I paid $350 dollars for the whole set. U can't beat that.
