Running 15.5 psi to redline on the stock turbo is a recipe for BOOM.

Learn about your car first. Most of those hose mods freak out the ECU and leave you with the spiking behavior that you saw.

If the car is an '04, doing anything like this is gonna kill it quick.
The stock setup won't safely hold that boost to redline...you will melt something...the boost is supposed to taper towards redline to avoid detonation and excessive EGT's.
Be careful or be rich, and don't try to get it warrantied if you blow it up playing with it.

Well,

15.5 on the stock turbo is close to the max I'd run (and I have a FMIC). Holding 15.5 (stock turbo) to redline is wishfull thinking.

There are many differences in the 04's.

tach is in the center

no radio antenna

different seats

different gauge cluster

totally different front end (hood, headlights, hoodscoop, fogs, etc..)

different ECU

different clutch

different flywheel

New pearlescent(sp?) paint

The worst being the open/closed loop delay. Seats are awesome, front end looks better(not trying to start a war), and the red needles are much better than yellow(who like yellow, what a girl color).

Trust me, we have a lot of guys running the AVO wastegate actuator around 16.5-17 psi all day long with no problems.

So you're recommending that it's acceptable to hold 16.5-17psi to REDLINE on the stock setup? That seems to go against EVERYTHING that every reputable tuner recommends for the stock turbo. Please enlighten us.

Holding 15.5 psi to 5000 rpm is acceptable, but 15.5 psi to redline is a "recipe for boom"

check out the latest issue of Sport Compact Car, there's an issue about a guy that had his stock car boosting 17 psi. He said his engine blew twice and both times he had it repaired under warranty. What a jerk.
