Engine/Power - EJ20T (pre-2006 WRX and JDM) There is replacement for displacement, it is forced induction - OEM 2.0 liter turbo engines in the USDM WRX. 90-94 Legacy Turbo EJ22 turbo engines can also be discussed here.

do some searching man, 18-19psi is going to cost you about 5+ grand for a built block, new turbo, fuel system upgrades, and tuning

Your friend is way off. Stock PSI is about 13.8; don't get a front mount intercooler unless you're running an upgraded/larger turbo (otherwise the front mount will cause hideous lag and make the car undrivable under normal conditions; plus, the stock bumper beam either needs to be cut or replaced with a Japanese beam). Also, be careful with electronic boost controllers. A little too much ambition can lead to a blown turbo and possibly engine. Plus, if you're considering a BOV like 9/10 new WRX owners, DON'T. It's a waste of money and robs performance and gas mileage from your car unless you have an upgraded turbo and/or are making high horsepower. If you do eventually go for one, stick with a recirculating BOV. And as a last note, I know you didn't bring this up, but DO NOT get a cold air intake in the WRX. And stick to the stock intake; it's good for up to about 300hp (get a short ram only when you exceed this number via a new turbo or you swap to a front mount intercooler). Good luck and welcome aboard.

PS I'm a former BMW owner as well

i suggest you stop listening to your friend and start reading as much as you can on these forums.

choku dori is right on the ball with that stuff, he has a wealth of knowledge.

i think that for 19 you would need engine management, turboback, new turbo, injectors.... other stuff i don't remember.
that's a stage 4 right?

then again you could always get a manual or electronic boost controller and set it to 19, just take a chance in blowing up your car.

hmm.

with some supporting mods, a bit 93 octane w/10% methanol, and careful tuning, i manage to run 20 psi on the stocker with no knock whatsoever.

you've just got to do a lot of homework, and make changes carefully and one at a time. for a mod list, check my www page.

Seriously, you need to do searches for these questions. They've all been beat to death. i-club is a great source for info. But you're wasting alot of time asking these questions in this manner.

Why upgrade and tune the engine so soon?
Id rather go for the Whiteline kit so the handling improves and learn to drive the car. When thats done and you feel like having control over the car in (almost) all conditions, then start tuning the engine. No need for lots of hp when you cant handle it......

Just my 2 c......
