Helix DP with stock axle back?

I was wondering if anyone knows if I can have a helix turbo back exhaust, but then replace the axle back with the stock muffler. Will that meet up correctly. If not, would I be able to mate the flanges of the catback to the helix DP. I want to make my car more discreet looking and hopefully make it a lil quieter. I don't want to do it if it sounds really ****ty. Can anyone help me? Thanks.

Well, I am running an Invidia catless DP, which I think is similar to the Helix, and I have it mated to the stock cat-back. Sound is close to stock, maybe tad louder, but it's mostly the whistling of the turbo you will hear. Fitment wasn't an issue, but unless you get new gaskets and tighten the bolts really well, you may experience some leaks.

why would you want to do that? it beats the purpose of having the downpipe.

I think it's a well-known fact that most, if not all, of the power gains realized from a full turbo-back exhaust are from the down-pipe (well, the removal of the 2 stock cats in the downpipe anyways), so I could see how wanting a more stealthy/stock sounding car while reaping the benefits of ditching the 2 cats could be useful. Sure, it won't sound anywhere near as nice, but I doubt anyone will ever harass you about your car being too loud.

thats the exact reason I kept my stock cat-back....the last thing I need is police attention sniffing around my car and looking under the hood for mods..... it means you lose a few horses on the dyno, but thats the trade off... it makes a nice whistling noise too.

I love the boxer rumble that a full turbo-back gives though......

I just want to rock the stock look for a while. I also think that my foot is a lot heaver because of the beautiful sound, so I'm thinking that without it I might be a little easier on it. Whatddya think? I know its hard to stay back off the throttle when you have the readily availible power in your fingertips.

You cannot do this because the Helix Catback is an angle mount exhaust system that uses straighter piping. You can make your stock catback to the Helix DP but it might leak because the Helix DP is a 3" pipe while your stock catback is 2.25" IIRC. The flanges will mate up though. Either way, this will be like putting a cork in your exhaust pipe; you'll be choking up your exhaust flow and creating severe backpressure which will cause you to lose a lot of potential power.

Thanks,

Geoff
