Helix cat-back - is this a (good) exhaust?
Hi
I am in the market for a Turbo Back exhaust. I would like a 3 inch set up with a Hi- flow cat. I see that Helix offers this. Are these as solid as other exhausts. I have not read much about them in magazines or forums...ect. All I know about the company is based in Japan. Do any Tuning shops use these?
Thanks
John

Helix is one of the best products on the market.
It features huge 1/2" thick CNC machined flanges to guard against head expansion and cracking. It incorporates a T304 Stainless Steel Mandrel-bent tube design to further guard against cracking. The EGT bung is CNC machined out of solid steel to allow the EGT probe to seat properly - threading a metal tube with a washer to seat the probe or removing the EGT probe completely is NOT ok. The flex-section not only ensures stress reduction from engine vibration and torsion (this is why the stock uppipe has a flex section), the flex-section ensures a perfect no-leak seal everytime even with aftermarket downpipes & manifolds.
The chain is only as strong as its weakest link and that rule applies to the breathing abilities of your Suby also. The Helix Exhaust System features T304 stainless steel piping, robotic tig welded cannister, and CNC mandrel bent 76mm straight through piping for maximum power. A central resonator keeps the exhaust levels down to a minimum, and a removal silencer (included) offers additional silencing for those long *** trips.

i run a helix setup in my car. i have to say it is very good.
it's sort of loud, but it's cool. when installed, it's very slightly angled to the left, like the hks, but not as extreme.
clear healthy throaty sound. helix also has a new downpipe with a hi-flow cat.

i have the helix turbo back and i love it, check my review in the review section. also i think 75mm is 3" so 76mm would be a bit over 3". not to sure about the noise levels, but it doesnt bother me.

lucky for you, last thursday we just happened to play with a DB meter that someone had at a meet. It was a digital one, so not as good as whatever else they use. but here are the numbers.
At idle, it was around 85-88ish, and at 3000rpm it was 98-102.
we ddin't want to push it any further, since the cops don't really like noise complaints and catless cars and whatnot.... those decibles were without a load too. it's a teeny bit louder i'd say if the car were actually moving.

edit: 76 millimeter = 2.992126 inch

If I hadn't gotten the HKS Carbon-Ti I would've love to get the Helix catback together with the Helix Flex Header System W/ FlexUp-pipe & Helix Downpipe. It's alot cheaper compare to the JDM parts...

I've seen a few different Helix parts, including their exhaust parts, and it was obvious that they were well made and finished....better than I expected for the $$$.
The DP was as nice a piece as I've seen for much more.

Anyone have any idea how loud the helix turbo-back is compared to other turbo-back setups like Perrin, B&B or Stromung?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Unless you got the last one in stock, you're going to be waiting until the end of the month (hopefully) before they ship.
I couldn't wait so I went another route
