Would it be beneficial to put some aluminum reflecting tape with sound deadening on the inside of a seibon carbon fiber hood? (Currently am not running an under tray)

Specifically this is the product, and I would like to hopefully drive heat out of the engine bay and make the front end a little more quiet. I've been reading up on air pressure/ambient temperature in the engine bay and I think this would work well but maybe it'd back fire and heat up my intake manifold or something lol.

All input is appreciated, and if there's a better product for this let me know! Also, would doing the firewall help too?

Wouldn't it just reflect heat back at the engine? If there is some heat escaping through the carbon fiber hood putting a reflective tape on it would keep more heat in. I think this would have the reverse effect of what you are trying to do.

Putting that stuff around your intake would stop heat from going in it.

I think a lot of companies that make that thermal stuff actually use a flammable glue. I used a bunch of this product at work and it is awesome:

turbo blanket FTW. Any one, just cover that thing.

You should have a catless UP by now...if not pull that OEM replace with a heat wrapped catless and cut a TON of heat generation under the hood. If you already have a catless UP, you might be able to use the perrin(?) UP wrap that just slips over like a sock and is held on with wire...if your arms are small.

I'd ask Seibon what they say about heatshielding on their product before you go that route.

I think you get more noise vector through the firewall than the hood.

There's a great link I have somewhere that goes in depth about sound dampening on a Subaru (a Forester to be exact, but still applicable), I'll see if I can find it.

Fwiw, while it didn't cover CF hoods, it didn't mention dampening the hood at all iirc.

Thanks for the replies and links. I think i'm just gonna go with bonnet vents for now. Going catless uppipe has been postponed long enough and is definitely gonna be my next mod. I'm thinking of going with the mishimoto intercooler too as it looks smaller than most other aftermarket ones so less heat soak,and it fits my horsepower range

If you're really worried about soak, I'd look into sprayers. Cusco makes one out of the box, and there's the STi one of course, various DIY options in varying degrees of complexity (manual push button, Hobbs switch activated, piggyback controller/ECU based...).

Stop the heat at the source...turbo blanket should be an OEM feature.

There's a Gucci edition Fiat, surprised designers haven't otheriwse gotten into the aftermarket market yet.

I'd rock a tri-stripe Adidas set of exhuast blankets!
