FTL: Blown engine
Hello everyone,
As the title says, i believe my engine has taken a dump. My timing belt tensioner's bearing blew up the other day. I was driving and got through an intersectio and the car dies, i pull over, and tried to start it back up, nothing. Turned the car off and looked under the hood, nothing out of the ordinary, so i had it towed home. I figured it might be something with the timing as the engine was a little louder than normal the last week or so, and i had meant to check on it but had no time. i also just assumed it was the cold weather or just assumed it was the age of the car and it needed some TLC. I got into the timing covers and saw the shattered bearing from the tensioner, and thought all would be well again once i replaced it and did a new belt......with everything back together (timing marks all lined up), i fired up the car, and took a video.
What does the damage sound like it will be? I looked at youtube and found a similar sounding wrx with notes saying they had a spun rod bearing, cracked piston, and bent exhaust valves......what sort of costs am i looking at here, and what are the best options (on a budget, so least expensive options are preferred)?

Thats another thing. Id say within the last 6 months my timing skipped a few teeth and was out of working order for a bit. I fixed the timing back then and the car was sounding fine, running like a champ, no issues. Within the last month or so, ive been getting random misfires with all four cylinders.....seemed very inconsistent amd hard to trace......was not driving too spirited, mileage inbetween clearing the codes wasnt consistent, so it was really random and i assumed it might be something to do with my timing again so i was meaning to check it. Since the car was running just fine, i would clear the codes and roll with it. I researched some and it appeared to be something kinda normal, or could have been issues with the tune. Not sure. Anyways, the code in the vid was a misfire in #4......and yes, my map was tuned for the EBCS amd EWG.....so it was protuned by XTP....

Well when it was running, it sounded terrible.....almost like it was only running two cylinders.....havent been able to test it since the incident. When i put the new tensioner and belt on, i only ran it long enough to take the video then took it apart so i can get my $$ back from the tensioner (o'reilly charged $160 for it), since theres obvious internal issues at this point.
