Thread moved to appropriate forum. What you're looking for is a comparison between WRX exhaust systems, conducted on one engine and one dyno. There was one a while back but that's old data now since so many new exhaust systems have hit the market since that time. Maybe someone knows of a more recent magazine test.
Referring to sound pressure level, the term is 'decibel'.

i think import tuner or sports compact magazine did an exhaust shoot out. i know 2 of the import mags did an exhaust comparo. HKS put out the most HP in one shoot out and in another, i think the blitz put out more but weighed more than the HKS. do a search on their websites.

Thanks for the link to the Turbo mag article but I think even their second published test is a little dated today. The article isn't dated, doesn't state what dyno they used for their tests (looks inflated like a Dynojet), doesn't state if they measured SPL (sound pressure level) according to SAE standards that CA uses, and leaves out all exhaust manufacturers that didn't give them free parts for the test. This leaves out big names like Borla, Strömung, and Vishnu Performance.

Cat back comparisons

Hope this helps. I just ordered an HKS. I did a couple of weeks on research, and a couple of weeks researching price comparisons. If your interested, i just ordered an HKS Hiper Cat with all shipping charges included (to Chicago burb) for $525. You may find one in the 480's, but with shipping your looking at 560-600 range and higher.

Im pretty happy with my Nur Spec performance wise but I dont care for the 4" tip and the way it looks with the silencer in (4' tip with a 2" hole). Without the silencer in it is very loud.
