Exhaust/ Cat Question

I am going to get the invidia cat-back exhaust.

My question is, since it from the cat back, were can I buy a high-flow, or straight pipe piece to replace the cat?

everywhere almost all of the after market down pipes dont have a cat. if you get caught its a 10,000$ fine and posibly jail time but i havent heard of anyone getting caught. and you cant replace the cat if its under 60k miles

Well I am asking about the third cat not the D/P cat. And about the fines, that is why I was asking about a high- flow, so it still looks like a cat is there.

Oh, high flow cat. Then Stromung and Random Technologies make high-flow midpipes (3rd cat section).

I'm not sure if you know this or not, but the WRX has two cats after the turbo (one in the downpipe right after the turbo, and one in the midpipe further downstream) and one before the turbo (in the uppipe). 3 in all. The third cat (the one in the midpipe that we we're speaking of) is considered the least restrictive. If you want a performance gain, I would look into getting a DP that only replaces the downpipe section (1 cat) and keeps the stock midpipe (with one cat). Stromung and Bosal make downpipes like this. Then the cat that is furthest downstream (midpipe) is still intact. Then the cat that is most visible is still there. Like I said, you may know this already, but it sounded like you might not have. Sorry for all that if you already knew...

Yeah I know, but every time I hear about some one who put an after market u/p or d/p on they had a CEL and had to get a mil eliminator, which just makes your CEL never come on, for anything. I am still looking into the u/p and d/p but I figure if I am going to get rid of 1 cat anywhere I may as well get rid of them all, or at least get high-flow.

that is the most severe punishment possible so it doesn't mean that once you get caught, that's what your paying. I knew a guy who got caught running catless in california with a modified illegal exhaust as well and his fines came up to a grand total of arouind 500 bucks.

from what i've heard the pde doesn't require a cel fix at all.
