The Blitz is considerably louder, isn't it. Like... louder to a fault?

One thing I have noticed is now that I have that HKS Hiper exhaust on the car, every buttmunch on the road tries to race me. I had a late 80s Aerostar line up next to me at a stoplight and rev his engine last night....

Cobb SS

Cobb's SS Cat Back is a very high quality 3" system. The sound is deep and not loud outside or inside the car. It may be a little on the pricey side but this one is worth it!

I'll second that! It's a great piece....I've had one on my car
for a few weeks now and love it! Looks good, and great
fit too.

I get a lot of compliments on the sound actually.

another option perhaps...

the Aussies tout the Halfya F1 as the best there is. I don't know if you can get it very easily around here. The other thing they say about it is that its hard to decide which limb you have to cut off to trade in for it... most seem to go for the left arm, cause even without that you can still use the clutch, the brake, the gas (probly most important, eh mate), the steering wheel, and the shifter. of course life is never the same after that kind of a trade, and routine everyday tasks can become quite difficult, but heck; you got a Halfya dude! haha later kids, Bennie

i dont think you'll be dissapointed. as i stated before, my buddy has the prodrive catback, and when he saw/heard my HKS, he got a little jealous... well, all i can really say has already been said, by that 900 year old guy in the last Indian Jones:

"You have chosen wisely..." right on dude, have fun out der

Im w/ matt on this one. I dont want a muffler tip big enough for a cat to crawl inside.... (man... could you imagine startin that thing up and firing that thing out your tailpipe?) Even when MY MOM of all people saw my buddy's exhaust tip on his integra (3.5-4") she labeled it as a "wh0re pipe"- she has pretty crude humor. Also, I dont have a need to draw any unnecessary attention, so I dont want for the exhaust tone to be super-loud. I also make many long freeway drives, and a loud exhaust in that case can be very annoying. I finally have the money, but I'm not sure if I want to drop $400-500 on an exhaust (I have the dual tip full stainless stromung in mind).

wrxracer55: The Cobb's SS Cat Back is what your looking for (see the link in my previous post).

scoobsport98 : Than if you dont want cabin drone, do not get the
Stromung! Do the Prodrive muffler or the full Cobb S/S cat back system. Besides, the Stromung only looks nice until the first winter than it rusts perty bad.

Karl, do you have (or are you referring to) the mild-steel stromung or the S/S stromung? Another note: I have a 98 impreza outback sport-- (so I guess I don't even belong in this forum...) but stromung does make an exhaust that fits my body style. I havent found a cobb system that applies to my model year. perhaps someone can hep me out. To tell the truth, I dont really only want to spend a max of about $300-$350 on an exhaust.

Another question for ya'll- Is the stock WRX muffler a dual-tip design? Is there any way I could just use the WRX can and tail pipe and my stock (or thicker?) piping? If this is possible I may be able to get that look for cheaper than I thought... if so, do any of you rexers want to get rid of your OEM muffler?

scoobsport98: Sorry, I assumed it was for a rex. I have heard and seen both the 304 and the mild steel Stromung's on old and new school Imprezas. At first I liked them and then did some checking with the owners and took some rides and drives too. The N/A cars were louder inside the car at all speeds than the turbo cars. Outside the car the sound was nice, as long as it was at idle. Anything past that and I did not care for it. On the turbo cars it was a little bit better on the outside, but it still droned in the cabin. As for construction and materials... well lets say I have seen better, much better. Here in Chicago, they rust. The steel ones rust all over the place all at once. The 304's rust at the welds. My Prodrive on the other hand shows none of this.

BTW, the WRX OEM muffler would work on your OBS nicely, but you have to alter the flange, it's a 2.375" (60mm) flange with a reducer to a 2" (50mm) pipe into the muffler. Hope that helps.

try TurboXS, the magnaflow muffler sounds the best, IMO. thats why i have a magnaflow muffler on mine. (and everyone who hears it says its the best sounding exhaust they've heard on a WRX)
