Even more guage questions

I need an EGT gauge. I have an exhaust, amongst other things, and am adding a utec and need to be able to monitor my EGT's. I bought my WRX with the optional center gauge pack. What I would be willing to do is purchase a column mounted factory boost gauge or preferably just a housing if the center dash boost gauge will fit, will it fit? I am hoping I can purchase a Subaru EGT gauge like the one included on the RS center dash pack and place it where the boost gauge originally was. If I use the Subaru EGT gauge will the mesurment capacity be wide enough to monitor the EGT's of the wrx especially with possible increased temps caused by performance tuning? I would like to avoid spending $600+ for an Omari face plate and a complete set of gauges. I am also considering just installing a EGT gauge where the voltmeter is to save me some money and allow me to avoid having to place the boost gauge on the steering column. What do you all think about this. I read something about using a different sensor with the EGT gauge but I was not quite sure what the post was talking about. Lastly, are the stock/optional gauges good enough?
Thanks.
