Engine blown?!?!? HELP!

ok, i was driving on the highway today in traffic. i was cruising in 2nd. and right when the traffic opened i stepped down and when the boost kicked it, i heard this loud bang!!! like a gun shot! and thenn, from the driver side i heard like loud *** leaking, flapping sound??!!?!? so i drove home.

i opened my hood, and i hear this flapping clicking sound(very obvious) in the engines left side!!?? i looked under the car, to see if its leaking anything!??! dont think sooo... the car idles fine, and boost gauge reads fine, doesnt look like anything is leaking?!?!?!

maybe blown something internal?!?!?! sounds like its coming from the cams gears!! HELPPPPPPPP

MODS, dunno if it concerns: deadbolt monster vf22, inj, walbro fp, tbe, uppipe, pullys, borla headers. EcuTek tuned by ispeed.

When you say "engines left side," do you mean passenger or driver side?

Yeah ^ If you answer that it would really help us out. I doubt it was an IC hose though.

And just why not?

This is why i say its possible. It doesn't (apparently) leak something so radiater hoses are a non issue. It idles correctly, i so doubt a piston or pretty much anything would allow that with it just being intake.

Oh well though its just theory for now until something is proven
maybe i just wanna have something to talk about (bored)

Actually, now that I reread the guys post I take it back. It's possible that its an IC hose based on his description of what happened. The only reason I was doubting that is because I dont think it would idle properly. But I could be wrong.

Well i'm assuming its just the part underneath the I/C. Its damn ridged and possibly if its popped off it would have enough push against the system to prevent most boost but still idle enough

You see what i'm sayin?

What i'm sure he does hope thats its just that. As a side note i've heard of other guys saying they've had i/c pop off with aftermarket turbos and high boost.

*chuckles* i really don't know alot but i do read a ton.

Though i fail miserby at this i try to read posts carefully, absorb all information relative from previous posts possible, and discern to a degree a plausable solution.

That and working on a run down POS %#@# forsaken IROC z28 chevy for 4 years helped out alot with the mechanical junk too.

Btw i'm an engineer (cough *software* cough) so my kind looks for stuff to take apart just so we understand how it functions.

Yeah, I read a lot too, I've been doing it for so long thought that now I don't absorb nearly as much as I used to . This may be way too basic for you but I've always found www.howstuffworks.com to help out a lot.

I wish I had something to take apart. Can't drive yet and when I can I doubt I'll be able to work on the car I'm driving (it'll probably belong to my father and I'll be forbidden from opening the hood).

I really wish i had known about that site when i was young, of course when i was younger the internet didn't really exist but in universities. I really know alot of the basics per say on many of those things they offer. However i'm not going to say i'm perfect, its not like i haven't used it :P.

A word of advice, if you plan on opening the hood on a new car i want you to understand that engines have come a long way since the earlier days. I'm sure you already realize this but tuning and fixing things now is more of an electronic process than a mechanical one. Hell my car doesn't even have a distributor (in old cars you could twist it to advance or retard the timing).

Ok nostalgia moment is passed lets stick to the topic

Talked to the guy and got the answer

Apparently the borla headers got a small hole in it

Guess the next step is GT spec headers

lol, i dont have much experience with the old engines anyway. actually i dont have much experience with any engines but i know a little about modern internal combustion engines and i have a year or two to learn before i even get the chance to open the hood of a car.
