Engine/Power - EJ20T (pre-2006 WRX and JDM) There is replacement for displacement, it is forced induction - OEM 2.0 liter turbo engines in the USDM WRX. 90-94 Legacy Turbo EJ22 turbo engines can also be discussed here.

ECU wants to add more fuel...HELP...

has anyone out there ever encountered this problem or might know somebody that has? at 3000 Rpm my ECU adds anywhere from 15-20% more fuel. i have the stock injectors back in because my 660cc injectors make the problem worse and i get mis-fire codes in banks 1 and 3 and only on that side of the engine. that side of the engine is leaning out for some reason and can't find the source of the problem.

what i have done engine wise...

agency power fuel rails
helix 660cc injectors
TBV delete (by removing the stock flappers)
fp green turbo
perrin fmic

compresions test on the cylinders was good 155-160psi
leak down test of the inter-cooler found no air leaks

don't know if this problem was happening before, only found it when it went to be dyno tuned and couldn't be due to this problem.

im guessing your not running the stock ecu? if youre running a UTec/etc. , are you running a base map or protune? if you say you ran into this problem while dyno tuning, wouldnt the shop be able to fix this? unless theyre not familiar with the software.

they are tuning with utec and have never encountered this problem before. they are as stumped as i am. i am sure that the shop can figure it out but what will the cost be? i rather narrow down the possibilities so i doesn't cost so much when i take my car back to have it dyno tuned.

When using the UTEC in OL Fuel it doesn't matter what the stock ECU is doing....the UTEC is in complete control. As long as AFRs & EGTs are in the clear you are (for the most part) safe.

If the utec is pulling fuel w/o being told to do so call TurboXS.

Also is the tuner proficent at the UTEC? Otherwise I would let a nobody tune it, alot of damage can be done w/ poor tuning.

the shop doing the tuning is a repitable shop, they just have never encountered this issue before. i am trying to do the problem solving myself to save the money. the car runs fine, except at 3000rpm but i stay away from there.

has anyone had problems with leaks using agency power fuel rails?

i think these rails could contribute to the problem since i am always chasing tape that decides to fail. no matter how much teflone tape is on the connections they still seem to end up discoloring.

I hope you are joking about the teflon tape.....you should never ever have to put tape on -AN fittings....
