Downpipes & Donut flanges?
Downpipes & Donut flanges?
Here's a couple of questions for those in the know.
Most aftermarket WRX downpipes I've seen don't use a Donut gasket like the stock unit. (I know there are exceptions, TurboXS being one).
My questions are:
1. Are the majority of DPs just bolting straight up to the catback section with a flat flange gasket?
2. If so, doesn't that create a problem since there is no flex-point? I know donut gaskets are used exactly for that reason.
3. Does anyone have any insight into this? Is it just generally accepted that the exhaust system doesn't really need a flex point?
