which downpipe?
really depends on what kind of preference you have....whether you want a nice throaty and deep exhaust note with a catless dp along with great performance....or going somewhat legal with a cat equipped downpipe...personally...i would go wit a catless dp...mind as well........perferably a DP w/ 4in bellmouth that tapers down to a 3 inch....like HELIX....(which is the one i got)

BPM all the way. There downpipe is the best looking one I've seen. Divorced wastegate with blocker plate that dumps at least 12" down stream of the turbo as to not cause turbulence in the exhaust. www.bpmsports.com

Downpipe
Bellmouth downpipes seems to be the rage for WRX's comapare to Split mouths or round mouth downpipes.
I have the Invidia bellmouth now but if I had another chance I would've picked up a set of Helix bellmouth downpipes together with their Flex up-pipes and exhaust manifolds.
Main difference for Invidia & Helix is the price other than that both are quality companies.

Stock is 2.5" if you do not wish to have a non stock catback then use a 2.5" downpipe like pde or something
