cold start up noise

cold start up noise
Is it normal for my engine to be noisy on a cold start up? If its below 32 my engine has sort of a slight "deisel nock" to it until it gets warmed up. I know that a boxer engine does sound a bit diffrent than other engines, but it seems to be more noticable when cold. Ive had my 03 for 2yrs to date just 5dys ago, it has 39,000 miles on it. Anybody else have this noise, or is it normal?

That knocking type noise is normal as long as it goes away once the engine is warm. Its piston slap and its documented by Subaru to be normal for a cold engine.
