i would like comments about the cobb reflash. seems too good to be true. 25hp for less than $400.

It's everything they say it is.

I have had stage 2 for a couple months, and I love it. Drives like a much faster stock car. In fact, I'm about to upgrade to their next staged map (VF34) because I liked stage 2 so much.

I put down ~215hp with it, a stock car dyno's at about 165-170 on this dyno.

It's the best single mod I've done.

Stage 1 was a great mod, I figure I got pretty close to their advertised 25whp (according to delta dash road dynos). I'd defineatly recommend it as a first mod. Power wise it is your best bang for your buck.

At the time it was gutted up, bosal DP, stock 3rd cat, Cobb catback, Samco IC-Y, K&N.

That was also before any learning took place, on a 100+ degree day. A guy with a well learned one, and an ice'd down IC put down mid 220's.

Well you don't lose the reflash if you reset it. You lose the timing advance learning that has taken place since you last reset it.

As far as re-reflashing...with cobb they have a list of "smaller" mods that the ECU is capable of adapting for without additional mapping:

from http://www.cobbtuning.com/wrx/accessecu-faq.html:

Q. I have an up-pipe, and/or intercooler hoses, and/or a panel filter, and/or a BOV, and/or pulleys, etc. but I don’t see a map with those mods. What can I do?

A. Those types of modifications are within the AccessECU’s ability to adapt. Most of them (with the exception of the BOV) make a slight improvement in efficiency, but do not change the characteristics of the car enough to require reprogramming to work properly. If you add these types of parts later it might take the car a driving cycle or two to get the boost right on, but it will likely adapt unless the part makes a significant change such as a turbo-back. As stated above, if you have a question about your parts, let us know and we will help you choose the map that is right for you. That is much better than getting a wrong map, or thinking we do not have a map for your combo.
Turbos, injectors, new intercoolers, etc, should all be properly mapped for. They have maps for VF30/34 and STi injectors, and will soon have Stage 3 which includes an intercooler. Remember reflashes are only $20. And if you're curious, CALL COBB. I call them all the time to ask stupid questions, and they are amazingly patient and helpful.

does their reflash give you a fixed power increase? or will it all vary according to what you have. for example if one person has an invidia turbo back and another person has a txs turbo back, will both have the same power increase or will it vary?

it will vary to some degree. Cobb offers custom reflashes also if you have a lot of mods compaired to their stage 1 or stage 2 reflash
