CEL question
Hey Everyone,
I was wondering, if I run a cat-less up pipe and midpipe but keep the stock downpipe (therefore only running 1 cat) will I throw a CEL. I don't mind buying the MIL eliminator, but if I don't need it I might as well save $20. Please let me know. thanks.

I'm tempted to get rid of all three cats but my wife and my concience won't let me. I don't want to be COMPLETELY environmentally unfriendly. I know I'll lose a few horses but I figure a catless uppipe, midpipe, and a magnaflow muffler should make a noticable difference. And maybe someday if I'm feeling rich I can throw on a stromung high-flow catted downpipe or something.
And I went ahead and ordered the P.E.P. MIL eliminator today anway so no worries about the CELs. Its only $20 and it will buy a lot of peace of mind.

scbywgn is right. just buy the whole thing. it does not take much to change the down pipe anyway, so if you need to put the stock one back on no big deal. i ran a scooby sport uppipe & a pde down pipe no cels at any time and it worked awsome. i really don't think replacing one cat after the turbo is going to give you a gain in power at all. plus your saving some of weight too. start with the uppie that makes a noticable change. then get the whole down pipe you'll be much happier you did. i think i will put cats back on mine and dyno it to see the change in power from two or one cat. i'll post results at a later date.

I've got a turboxs turbo back and it has a high flow cat to make you feel a little better about the environment. I was told (who knows how reliable) that a high flow cat only costs you about 4-5 hp over a straight pipe...the real loss is in the weight.
