So this weekend I'm planning on installing an STI Uppipe and a Stromung divorced wastegate downpipe on my 02 WRX. I've read a couple of threads that mention CEL mods to prevent from the CEL to come up. Does anyone have pics of the resistor CEL mods?

i suggest that you dont do it yourself. if you mess up that o2 sensor isnt cheap

You can buy a pack of 5 2.2k ohm resistors for $.99 and you can make your own MIL eliminator for under $3.00.

edit: just passed 44,000mi and no CELs after the resistor install.

 

Thanks for the info guys! I'll try the 2.2k mod but the MIL fix looks a lot more complicated. I might just buy the fix from grouppe-s, since I have to pick up gaskets anyway.

 

I installed the up and dp last weekend but only did the 2.2k mod. No CEL yet, I didnt do the MIL fix because I didnt find a 1.2u F cap. How long do I have til the CEL light comes on?

 

It will happen eventually. I guess you can just wait for the CEL and then have fun driving in limp mode. That's what happened to my car everytime that CEL came on.

did anyone have problems installing the stock turbo shield after installing a stomung dp with the divorced wastegate?

 

Where can i find a 1.2uF Tantalum Cap? checked 2 radio shacks but they dont carry 1.2uF...

if you can't find an electronics component there it probably doesn't exist, or you have no earthly business using it

 

For those who haven't yet done the resistor CEL fix for the catless uppipe, I wrote a new tutorial and included bunch of pics shot while I installed the resistor. This question comes up fairly often and I needed to get rid of that damned CEL code P0546, anyway.

It's been almost a month and 2000 miles, including one 200-mile trip and two drag strip passes, and the CEL has not returned.
