CEL.....is dealer giving me grief?
My CEL has been on for about a week now.
Noteworthy mods:
turboback(no cats): PDE DP and Cobb tuning catback
GFB BOV
I took it to dealer and asked them to pull code. They told me(assuming it was service manager) that because I had taken out the stock DP they could not pull the code. He mentioned the the stock DP has two o2 sensors( one before and after the cat). Now the PDE DP only has one o2 bung. I've had the DP installed for about 6,000miles and have not had CEL until now!
Is dealer right? Car seems to be running fine!

I can't blame the dealer for their stance, but they are being very unfriendly in terms of customer service. It would take them all of a minute to pull the code and determine if it's a cat inefficiency CEL, at which point they can tell you that it's your responbility and not theirs to make it go away.
I suggest that you find a local member or garage that can scan it for you. Good luck.

I'd agree. If you wanted to get into a pissing contest with the guy you could assert that he has no idea of what is causing the CEL. Additionally, you could take 'the law' with you; meaning the written law that addresses warranties and such http://www.enjoythedrive.com/content/?id=8124,http://www.enjoythedrive.com/content/?id=8128, andThe Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act. I don't know if you can find the actual verbage of the law in those 2 links, but if you did a search, you could.
If not, you're left with trying to find a more understanding dealer/service dept; or just do what Jimmy says to do.

I ordered a mod that was supposed to eliminate o2 Cel warnings but I got a letter telling me the product had been taken off the market for reliability issues. the one I looked at is the only one I know of. Does any one else have an alternative to the "SUBARUSTORE o2 simulator for WRX". Or a mod that would fix the problem. And what is a MIL eliminator?

Thanks for the link. I went ahead and ordered one from them. It will be nice not to have the CEL on constsntly so I can tell if any "real" problems arise.

Dodge is like this too. But this does not apply to Subaru's.

Eric,
Your "expert" at the Subaru dealership doesn't sound too bright. The stock downpipe has only one O2 sensor, just like the PDE downpipe.
As suggested, just have the codes pulled by someone else and start there. I doubt that after 6000 miles that the PDE downpipe has suddenly started to kick out the cat ineffiency code.
If you have any questions shoot me an email at Sales@pde-usa.com.

Ian Stewart.

UK Scoobys have some plugs under the steering column.. you plug two green plugs together and turn the ignition on and the CEL flashes away the code..
I find it strange if this feature was removed from the US cars?
Look under the steering column just about the pedals and you should see the mass of wiring loom.. amoungst that there should be four plugs that are not connected to anything.. two of them green and two of the black.. of course then you need to decode the number of flashes which I can help with but the codes might be different... worth a try though?
