CA emissions laws...
I was thinking about this issue last week and decided to do some searches to see if i could come up with anything, but i could not.
I've been looking into picking up a WRX for some time now. Test drove a few, and even got a chance to ride in one of the new STI's that my buddy from Subby brought over to my house one weekend. ( it was cool, one of the first times i've ever driven in one of those cars with all of the black vinyl covers on the body to "protect" its id )
anyways onto my question...i'm from the supra TT camp and we do not have 3 Cat's on our cars, and i was interested to know if anyone knows the law on cat removal.
I know if you run catless it is a very stiff fine and a possible felony. Is there a loophole if you just run one cat after the downpipe. I recall reading the law regarding this once, I think i remember it saying "tampering with any cat" which would mean removal of any of them. which would mean if your going to remove the cat in the up pipe you might as well kill all the cats and run a straight exhaust.
Though i do suppose that a cop is more likely to notice NO cats then still having the final cat. I guess it just might distract your normal run of the mill cop from giving you a ticket. And not to mention cleaning up the smell of the fumes....which is a dead give away.
I know you can smell my supra from 30 feet away.
