borla hushback

i looked but didnt see anything so... quick question

on an otherwise stock wrx, how much hp could be expected from a borla hushback?

everyone seems to be talking about sound level...but not power gains. im looking for something that sounds nice but isnt a fart cannon, a nice look and good hp gains. borla seems to be fitting the bill.. as long as the gains are decent/good.

With just an uppipe and the borla hush my car made 180 hp at the rear wheels on Gruppe-S's dyno. Stock cars typlically make around 165 or so. So, it's worth at least 10 hp at the wheels when combined with a uppipe.

I'm thinking that most of that gain was the up-pipe. Catbacks are for a better sound, you will only gain a couple of horses.

Think about a $200 catless downpipe (Helix) instead...that way you make some decent gains and don't attract unwanted police attention. It depends if you want to go faster or hear the 'boxer rumble'

The borla Hush has great reviews. Personally, I think it's a little quiet. But its got a nice deep tone to it. I ended up going with an Apexi N1 because i didn't like borla's twin tip and the n1 was a little louder, i think... But as in Hp gains you won't feel much honestly. But when i switch into my catback, i felt the flow of the car was much better expecially in low RPM.

The catback isn't worth much by itself.
For another $50 over the cost of a Hush system you can get an Accessport which is probably the single best thing you can do for performance.
Just the Stage 1 programming is good for ~265FWHP

And Torque was at about 185 or so at the wheels.

Hey, I just installed my borla hush catback a couple days ago and its awsome. Its not really loud, but you can hear it and it sounds sweet - nice, low and rumbly. It will free up a couple horses and you might feel a little more responsiveness but, most likely not. The catback is however, a good part of your eventual stage 2 upgrade. I bought the hush because I didnt want to attract a ton of police, and I figure once I get a catless downpipe, combined with the hush I should get a decently sounding subie thats not obnoxiously loud. Just my .02

Depending on the design muffler you go with you could see
5-10 whp from what I have seen in peoples dyno sheets.
A straight through design muffler will yield the most gains.
The gains will not really be noticable.
The Borla "Hush" catback is probably the quietest muffler you
can get if that is what you are going for.I agree that the fart
cans sound horrible and they are "rice" to the fullest.
