Borla is beautiful
Just wanted to let anyone who wanted to know hear my impression of the new borla header for the WRX.
I got one of the first one's. Once past the O2 sensor, it's a breeze to install. You'll need to buy one from snapon tools. The thing fits like a glove, looks great (too bad you won't see it). Very noticable power gains in the midrange. Turbo seems to spool up a bit faster, and the boxer finally has that boxer growl to it. Also, my engine is running cooler. Sorry I don't have any pics.

borla....
just bought my suby back in february...within a month, i lowered it 2" with Tanabe racing springs, added an AEM cold air intake which helped my throttle response, helped the turbo spool up faster, and made the bypass valve very audible. other than that, i've only added the borla header, which made a huge difference in the mid-range. future plans are a manual boost controller, BOV, up-pipe, and a good exhaust. instead of a front mount intercooler, i think i'll wait for the STi to come out...pple will be selling their stock STi intercoolers on Ebay i'm sure.

open to all opinions
wanted to see opinions on what my next mod should be. 2003 WRX...Lowered 2", Borla 4-1 exhaust header, AEM COI. i'd like to keep the car totally carb approved, or at least carb foolproof. from what i've learned, an up-pipe or cat-back would yield a great deal of power. manual boost controller would be nice

Many people have had trouble with the Borla header. Mine was pretty easy to install, one of my co-workers on the other hand, fit terribly. Seems like Borla customers are having mixed results although most of them that i've seen have talked about the poor fitment. Be sure to have a high speed drill. -Z

the offset o2 socket needed to remove the o2 sensor from the factory manifold can be had at autozone for ~$9. probably not as nice as snap-on, but it works just the same. the extra $$ for the snap-on seems unnecessary imho

i don't understand how a CAI lets the turbo spool faster?
Opinions and observations on aftermarket intakes (cold air intakes, short rams, K&N drop-in filters) from Sheehan Motor Racing (and Vishnu Performance) and Cobb Tuning. I continue to use the factory airbox and filter elements until something comes along that doesn't screw up MAF sensor readings.

I would have to say that putting in an uppipe would make more of a difference that just changing the headers. But that is just my opinion.
