GFB Hybrid tends to be the one of choice among many drivers, because you can run it atmospheric or 50% recirculated... I have tried many, and like it a lot...

The car doesn't necessarily run "bad" when running at 100%. The only problem is that there's a chance the engine will run rich for the 1/5 of a second between shifts. Which isn't terrible. As far as what brand you want, that also depends on how loud of a BOV you want. The GFB is quieter than most, though if you're running at full boost, you can still hear it pretty well. The RFL is very loud, if that's what you're after.

do you want a SHHHHHHHH sound or a high pitch one like the hks ssqv bov? If the former, get the forge bov, sounds really nice. Or if you want a space age laser type sound, get the Greddy Type S

Here's a short movie clip of the hks bov.

Here's a sound clip of the Forge bov.

I suggest stock with the intake silencer removed. Take your wife's money and save up for exhaust components

GFB hybrid, designed with the wrx in mind. no mounting/adapter plates needed and cheaper than most. I got mine used, but works great nonetheless. with 100% vent you have to adjust your shifting again, it varies slightly compared to the stock BOV. but like Choku Dori said, save the cash, or just have her send your ECU to Cobb for a reflash!

It's becuase BOV's aren't a power gain mod to begin with, they're a safety mod for those that run large, high pressure, turbos
