Best TMIC
Looking for a TMIC any suggestions?
I would like to have a good one that is decent in price and will perform.
Thanks
Jon

I would have to agree with Austin even though he was involved with their R&D.... Thats an ugly photo of it though ( test unit ).
The Vishnu TMIC is the only newly released oversized TMIC that isn't too large for the use of the sti spiltter / seal for a true air to IC effect. And from what I read about it they had designed it to work specifically with the sti splitter / seal combo. The new gigantic APS TMIC has a custom splitter also but I do not believe it incorporates a rubber seal to keep the cool air in and the hot engine air out, I maybe wrong though. In my opinion many of these giant TMIC's have too much surface area exposed allowing for an increase in heat sink effects. If I was buying a new TMIC this would be my choice.
Tom..

TMIC $975.00
Sti splitter which they sell $130.00
Silicone IC Y hose $139.00
go to www.vishnutuning.com to read more tech info about it.
FYI Spearco ( very good reputation ) makes the Vishnu IC.
If I were you I would ask myself a few questions first before choosing,
~What turbo am I going to use and what kind of driving will I be doing ? Any IHI VF series turbo is fine with a top mount, especially if you add water spray for hard driving or summer traffic. Big Garret turbos for example 400 + hp, I would get a FMIC as I am planning on now.
~How does Vishnu compare to the other big TMIC 's ? ( for example- Sti, APS, PWR and Hyperflow which is the same manufacturer for TurboXS and MRT ). Do your own investigation and compare the functionality of the various designs ect., but don't be swayed by the biggger is better attitude as stated earlier without doing research first. Talk to other members who have these IC's for their opinions.
~What is my budget ? You may want to consider the Sti TMIC also. It is not real big and has a tube / fin design like the stock IC but it is larger than stock and more affordable than the other available TMIC's, especially if you can find a nice used one. Remember, the WRX Sti comes with this IC from the factory and a VF 30, 34 or 35 turbo ( and water spray ).
Considering the money your going to spend it is probably worth the effort.
Good luck, Tom..

Thanks for the info...
However, I already own a full Stage 4 setup (not turboxs' exact components but it's a stage 4)
I am definately considering the STI one it's just that the fins of the stock one are similar if not the same design as the STI one and I'm affraid that if i purchase that one it will end up like the stock one I have now (all bent in different places).
I plan on doing just what I'm doing now...
Daily driving my car, Auto X, Drag racing... etc.
I will definately do that and am as we speak. I really appreciate the input though..
Thanks again.

Any truth to that?

Wrong, I put the STi TMIC on my car without changing anything else, and I gained 20-25WHP from it on my VF30 setup. And also, a tube / fin intercooler design cools better than a bar and plate like the one Vishnu uses. The STi unit also comes with an aluminum Y-pipe and silicone hoses.

Bar / plate is heavier than tube / fin.
Bar / plate is more expensive to manufacture than tube / fin.
It is not universally accepted that the tube / fin design provides superior cooling as compared to bar / plate.

hope I don't start a debate in here.. that was not the purpose...
Thank you for both of your inputs on this matter.
I am definately looking at the STI one...
Hey PimpWagon where'd you get your STI intercooler from and how much was it?
How's the packing of the item when you received it?
Was the IC in a Subaru Genuine Product box?
Dammit... I hate making decisions like this...
Jon
Sloppy Joe... Thanks for not being "Sloppy" on your points about the tube and fin type IC's
