Welp just got done changing the oil... I looked at the fram and the top part where the seal is, is concave in shape where as the OEM one is convex...

I have NO CLUE what that means, or if there is a difference on how the oil is routed through the filter...?

One more question, on the metal gasket that you put on the drain plug, which side goes where... I put the FLAT side to the nut, and the small hump towards the oil pan.

I actually like changing the oil... I need to get jack stands so I can jack the whole car up... being 6'1" and having long arms it's hard for me too see under there with out completly contourting myself everywhere...lol

I actually just ordered one of these:
http://www.fumotovalve.com/

It's a fumoto valve... Looks awesome to me, should cut time by half at least in my opinion... I ordered it from Lubespecialist.com/fumoto so I'll post my opinion of it :-) Kinda sucks that I won't get to use it until 3000 more miles...bla!

I wish Mobil1 made one. I use them on my Cougar and they rock. I have used Bosch and it seems to work good.

the fram filter has a smaller diameter and it longer, just makes me nervous to have that hanging down that low, when every other filter manufacturer makes one the proper shape.

as far as tranny noises go, it's about the same. THe forward gears due seem to slide in better. Yes, i went with the 75w 90 max gear oil. It still whines when even out of gear and slowing down.

Many who have changed to syn in the trans have loved it for a few thousand miles and then had the problems. The front diff is a part of the trans, therefore cannot use a seperate lube. The rear diff should be able to use a syn lube without problems.

I just changed my trans lube to a 'cocktail' of 3 different products and after no less than 5k miles or If I have problems will I publish my results.

I use Mobil 1 in 10w30(Florida temperatures don't require a different summer/winter oil) and OEM or Purolator oil filters. I change filters at 4k miles and top up until 8k miles and then do a full oil/filter change.
IMHO, changing syn oil every 3k miles is pouring $$$ down the drain
