ran a 12.5 with a straight muffler and a 75 shot wet in vegas, probably a 12.2 at sea level
spent 500 for a new nitrous kit, and 80 on a straight no-muffler axle-back, some 100 octane, that was it for a consistant 12.5, axle back swaps out in 5 minutes if the staight gets too loud. never once got a cel or knock/ping.

Subarus aren't that bad for drag racing. Especially if it's your daily driver(assuming you have an auto or swap trannies) and you get great gas milleage compared to domestics. Turbo all-wheel drives have always ruled in import drags. But I'd really stay away from nitous. I'd even be iffy about running a 55 shot spool-up kit. But that's just me.

IMO:
NO2: stay away from the bottle... sure it's good for straightline but thats about it... oh yeah and how much does it cost to refil every time you decide to use it... and again how much does it cost to rebuild your block when you fist f*ck cylinder 3... dont suck the bottle
Cobb reflash:
best bang for the buck, the WRX will run smoother, faster, and I've heard slightly BETTER MPG on the stage 1 and 2 reflashes. Also NO mod is covered under waranty but in all honesty your dealer will never know unless they specifically check for it or you do something dumb like tell them.
Exhaust:
I have a cat back LOVE it, Uppipes and down pipes do wonders too. the catback will make it breathe a little easier so you'll get a little more low end (no more choking under 2K) the dp will further this improvment and you'll hear your turbo spool up a lot better. an uppipe will make your turbo spool up faster so you'll start making boost at a lower RPM. if you're not going ECU go exhaust.
Intake or BOV:
either one of these will improve the "woosh" sound from the the BOV. but BOVs drastly increast turbo lag as all the lost pressure is just vented instead of recycled (unless you get a recycling Diverter Valve but then that makes no noise so you just wasted $200) an intake really makes no difference at all except you can hear the BOV making it's noise. it messes up the MAF unless you have it specifically tuned for the intake and even if you do it doesn't make any extra power unless you have a full blown monster mod. so as that goes if you really want the "woosh" remove the silencer (or buy a silencer removal part) or get a cobb intake with an ecu reflash for their intake.
here my suggestion:
get the ECU reflash: $400
once you get more money and want to put it into the engine, get a turbo back and get it reflashed again. (re-reflashes are only $20 w00t) past that you'll probably want custom tuning
also another good bang for the buck is definitly a kartboy short shift (with bushings) or an HKS type 1 turbo timer. I got both of these and they're just fun as hell. the short shift is knotchy and feels fantastic and the turbo timer not only looks bad *** when you get out of your car and it's still running (letting everyone around you know "your TURBO needs to cool off") but it also clocks 1/4mile and 0-60 times and keeps track of your highest top speed
good luck

And nitrous is the worst idea ever in a WRX. It doesn't have forged pistons. I know someone who went thru 2 engines in a few months before he finally learned.

I have cobb accessport reflash, and my gas mileage has been the same ever since I upgraded to Stage 1 from stock. On stage 2 however, my gas milaeage has been kinda crappy.

Gut your stock uppipe, get a downpipe ($200). Save the remaining 200 for a reflash, or get IC hoses, or a freer flowing muffler welded on.
