If you have an aftermarket 'BOV' venting to atmosphere, then you will blow fireballs, sometimes.
Venting to atmosphere causes a over-rich condition on shifting and excess fuel goes 'BOOM'....

If no BOV, then tuning is in order....Shouldn't hurt to be a bit rich..better than too lean.

You can't vent 100% to the atmosphere and NOT overfuel...thus causing the fireballs. Some 'BOV's" are 'tuneable' and allow the amount vented to be adjusted. This allows a 'happy medium' in venting and fueling. GFB makes one and Worxtuning makes another, there may be others but I don't know.
IMHO, the ONLY reason to use an aftermarket 'BOV' is if you HAVE to because you are using a FMIC or you are running over ~20psi. boost and NEED one.
