I'm sureI'm not the only one who is sick of reading posts about Stage * WRX's.

In my one year of experience, their isn't any clear cut definition of which stage consists of which mods. For example Cobb's stage one includes a reflash and nothing else, claiming 260 hp. Whereas Vishnu's stage one includes a reflash, power pulley, up pipe and turbo back exhaust.

Can anyone clear up this conundrum or is this just something we all have to deal with? I've read posts about someone getting a certain 1/4 mile time with a "Stage 4" WRX. But I have no Idea what that means. I guess I can call my STi scoop a stage one by industry standards. Please Help!

There is nothing to clear up...it is all pea soup and will always be.
It cannot be any clearer than it is because there is no and never will be any set standard, so get over it and don't waste any more time tinking about it. I don't.

 

Cobb:
Stage 1 = reflash no mods
Stage 2 = reflash and turboback (actually just DP cat removed)
Stage 2.5 = Stage 2 plus VF34/30, STi injectors
Stage 3 = Stage 2.5 plus Cobb's TMIC (or so rumored, due Spring 04)

Vishnu:
Stage SubZero = reflash no mods
Stage Zero = Reflash + uppipe/pulley
Stage 1 = Zero + turboback
Stage 2 = 1 + VF30/injectors/fuel pump
Stage 3 = some totally custom job that will rule

TurboXS
Stage 1 = UTEC
Stage 2 = 1 + Turboback
Stage 3 = 2 + TMIC + Uppipe
Stage 4 = UTEC, turboback, VF30, uppipe, injectors, fuel pump
Stage 4++ = 4 + TMIC

Best advice I can give you is don't follow the projected HP numbers but go with someone that provides such a service that can support you well locally that way you can get your own setup and not a staged package that will be tailored to your needs.
