Anybody got the HKS exhaust?
Anybody got the HKS exhaust?
If you do, how manageable is the noise level if everything else is stock? I like the HP gains but I'm searching for something thats civil yet makes its presence known (oxymoron?). I've read mixed reviews but I think the ones that said it was very loud had other mods (up/downpipe) but I'm not sure. What about droning? Also, how is the quality and ease of installment? How do you like it overall? Thanks for your help.

I love it! Originally i only had intake and then the hks. It lets you be known, but not to bad. Wide open it can be a little loud, but not unless you want it to be. The installation was a breeze. Over all i love it. Mine is c/f ti and it is great.
I agree too, it's not overly loud. Nice rumble. I have the carbon/ti one as well.
Installation is a breeze, you can do it yourself, just use new hangers.
If you want to hear some sound clips:

you can try here, look in some of the dates, you're looking for me, Allan Chan Subaru WRX.
I don't have time to sift through each video, but there are some good ones on there where you can hear the exhaust at WOT and w/ an HKS SS BOV.

Few more ?'s
Thanks guys. I am definitely impressed by the deep rumbling. I have another question though regarding ground clearance. In the pic's I've seen, the pipe leading to the canister looks awfully low to the ground. Do you guys have any problems scraping the pipe on speed bumps, dips, etc.? I plan on lowering my ride about an inch so it's a little worrisome. Also, does the carbon fibre affect the sound or is it only for weight and looks?
I have my car dropped about an inch (tein coilovers). Never had any problems with the canister getting dragged. However, i do take it slow and easy over bumps and dips as if it were going to scrap (Just in case).
I have ridden in some cars that were so low you could hear them scrape regardless of how easy you were going over bumps.
Carbon Fiber wrap is for looks only. Nothing else.

Car Info: 2016 Acura RDX ... meh. Um, nice subwoofer?
Ditto on all the positive stuff people have already said. I do however scrape now and then when leaving an even moderately steep driveway. Go at an angle and/or go it slow and its OK. I'm dropped about 1.25 or 1.5 inches with TEIN High Techs.

I've had HKS Hi-Power on for a few months now, only mod I've made to the drive train so far. The sound is fantastic, it's not over bearing but it lets you know it's there.
as for scraping I've never had a problem and I drive around the aweful bumpy pavement area of Troy NY. Also my driveway at home is really nasty, such the my brother in his lowered A4 has to drive in almost sideways to keep from scraping... I've never had a problem
someone mentioned getting new hangers... whats wrong with OEM?

I have heard some bad things about using aftermarket hangers. It was a while back ago but i remember somebody specifically had a problem with the CTi exhaust and kartboy hangers.
It ended up ripping a whole in his muffler (he had pics of it). From what i have read the hangers are stiffer and keep things from moving. By doing this however it seems that it would be putting a lot of stress where the hangers attach. I don't have hangers so you may want to talk to people that do.

I can understand if they rasie it up a little so it wont scrape, but why stiffen the exhaust... it has a flex joint, I think any further stiffining would stress the piping? anyone have some insite?
