Aftermarket Blow off valves

Has anyone bought an aftermarket blow off valve for their 03 impreza wrx? I want to get one because I think that the agressive blow off sound would be pretty awsome to have. Let me know....

lots of people have. they do sound cool but of amything they hurt your cars performance

what sort of damage can they do, I will admit that i am highly turbo-challanged, but everything that i have read about blow off valves says that they prolong the life of the turbo.... but they don't mention any effects on the engine

A nice blow off valve is the GFB 50/50 which vents to the atmosphere but also recirculates some air back into the intake to avoid idling problems. Lookin in the vendors section, I think Flashndash was selling them for $190.

Your car already has a bypass valve to protect the turbo. An aftermarket BOV does the same thing but makes more noise by venting the pressure out instead of recirculating it.

i just got the turbo xs bov so loud, i didnt know it was gunna make head turn like that

hey I have a GFB blow off valve...its a dual vent so u get the sound, and half the air also recirc. back into the intake...I like it a lot..

Just wondering, did you notice ANY difference in performance for the worse? Cause I would think if it's 50/50 that there would be less air running back into the intake then the stock which is 100%?

I got the blitz dd bov on my 02'WRX and it is sweet! I love the look on some peoples faces when they dont know what the noise is when your shifting! Its funny, but i love my bov no matter what anyone says!!

I know that a 100% atmo BOV does the opposite of the stock bypass valve because it doesnt put air back into the intake which makes the car run rich in between shifts. I want to know if a 50/50 BOV affects the performance.

On a Stock WRX, it can hurt the performance of the car. The stock recirc valve does a great job, and changing it is kind of akin to changing the stock intake. a lot of money for very little performance gains.
