the AEM CAI have had a lot of negative feedback on these forums...but as for me, i have been running it for a while now and i have no problems with it...no CEL, no loss at bottom end, but actually a gain at top end...it pulls a lot more at top end...your BOV will become a lot louder and you can actually hear your turbo spool

Well I'm getting an Injen CAI for free because of a deal that didnt go so wel.l they quote "owe me" If the engine is running leaner than wouldnt it make sense if you tuned for more gas that it would give gains... I know I'm going to love the sound and i'm sure it'll sound great at 18psi and catless.

Aftermarket air intake system...
I would only recommend getting a short ram intake system if you're planning on getting a front mount intercooler.

The only intake I would consider getting would be the APS (note that is NOT AEM or APC) intake, which is actually cast aluminum and not plastic/rubber. I have seen it installed in an 02 WRX, and it maintains the stock tubing diameter and the length from actual intake end to the MAF sensor down to the milimeter; it also draws air from the fender well, not from the interior of the engine like a short ram or pod will. Functionally it only passes a bit more air and shortens the path that air travels overall, and it really doesn't change the geometry of that sensitive system.
