I just installed a short ram air intake. two questions. I didn't remove the "front factory intake" thinking that this would allow more air next to the filter, true or not.
I don't think it will matter much. Aftermarket intakes are of questionable value on a lightly modified WRX.

Whats better to use a AEM CAI or K&N CAI?, or is it just better to buy a K&N filter and use it with stock intake?, since my car only has HKS DOWN PIPE UPPIPE AND EXHAUST.

We just need the one post. If they want to read the rest of the thread that's okay, too. No worries - I have it bookmarked.

to answer your question, you only have to remove from the stock airbox back when you install the AEM shortram.

speaking from experience, it works pretty good on the stock turbo, nice sounds, a little better top end, etc... but, if you get into the world of reflashes or bigger turbo's, you're going to want the stock airbox back in the car. the link Wingless Wonder posted is some good info.

Save your money and get some mods that matter (suspension, perhaps)

This seems to be the concensus whenever the intake topic is brought up.
