Engine/Power - EJ20T (pre-2006 WRX and JDM) There is replacement for displacement, it is forced induction - OEM 2.0 liter turbo engines in the USDM WRX. 90-94 Legacy Turbo EJ22 turbo engines can also be discussed here.

360whp, 368wtq on a vf30.. I don't think so

So quick question.. is this possible?:

This kid is talking so much smack about his car down at the dyno meet the other day. He then said he didn't have the dough to dyno. He states that his car is making 368WHP and 360WTQ. He states his car has:

108 Octane (368WHP, 360WTQ) and 93 Pump (330HP, 320
Vf30 @ 21.5PSI (Here is where I'm callin bs again, saying its "polished")
Utec with what he calls his (done by a ferrari mechanic map, timing at 29)
Fuel Rails
Sti Injectors/Pump
Hks Dowpipe/Uppipe/HKS Carbon TI Cat Back
Invidia Headers
STOCK TMIC
Water injection
Step colder plugs
Larger throttle body.. not ported.. New
Intercooler hoses
Underdrive Pullies (No Air Conditioning)
STI Intake Manifold
Injen Intake
Greddy Oil Catch Can
Exedy flywheel and clutch

I just don't see this much power out of a vf30.. NOR do I see a vf30 being that efficient at that PSI. I have a vf22 setup putting down 322.7whp, 304.8wtq.. on a rough tune.. dyno'd on a dynapack with a vf22 on 93 octane.

Maybe I'm just jealous or whatever.. but I don't see this happening without something up his sleeve.

Any other people think this is BS?

Well, I have a similar setup and I layed down a healthy 300 on 93 Oct and a tuned map. The only real difference is that I'm only running 18.5 pounds of boost and I have the TXS TMIC. I really don't see a stock intercooler being able to efficiently support 21.5psi but maybe I'm wrong.

In reference to the VF30, I can say that when compared to a VF22 it might be lower on top end but it will spool a little faster ( about 3300 rpm w/uppipe).

Remember, the TurboXS Stg4 with TMIC can put down a documented 285whp with a generic map. If aggresively tuned, I could see this setup supporting about 30-50whp more. Taking into consideration his fuel octane and "Ferarri tuning", it is quite possible that his claims could be legit.

My 2 cents,
SZ

IHI claims 375 hp on the vf30, if it has had some work done to it(ported, and polished with compresser work) i could see it pumping out a little more. The stock intercooler is what throws me( are you sure its stock. I know that the hyperflow looks stock but is a lot thicker. I don't really know that well, but i would say he does have the other supporting mods to push 360 whp. It would probably be close to you anyway. I would also say that if he is right, he is right at the max for tuning and i would also say that his car won't last long. Just stay conservitive and safe. 322 whp is nothing to sneeze at. Great numbers man. Just remember to be happy with what you have, and until he puts it on the dyno he full of it.

Just assume what that guy is spitting out is nonsense. If he doesn't have the 'dough' to back it up, I say he doesnt have enough ***** to lay it on the dyno. IF he was pushing those numbers, good for him cause he has a really well put together setup. But 9 times out of 10 he is just poppin off his mouth. IMO

Yeah, WRX Rush is probably right. Besides, if you can afford that setup (5k-6k), you should be able to get at least an aftermarket TMIC. But his claims are very real if done right.

And even if he can't afford the TMIC. . . Who would not bring enough cash to hit the dyno, with that setup at a dyno meet ?! Some things just don't add up.

I could see it as possible with 108 octane+ water inj, and the rest of his mods and a great tune....but his tranny would likely grenade.....and I would have done it a bit different and had a bigger TMIC, better numbers and $$$ for the dyno left in my pocket.

Yeah -- my rough tune is actually starting to get better and i forgot to mention that the 22 is a deadbolt 22... plus i have a 25 shot of nitrous that I used on that run.. so we'll see.. Other than that. I'm thinkin about tuning the car down a bit to make around 300whp.. I drive the car ~100-150 miles a day.. looking for work and doing side jobs.

Sucks living near no mechanical work..

And I guess the kid got wind of the forum question I posted. He's stopped talkin **** .

it might be possible. I have a vf30 in my car and only on 100 octane i dynoed 294whp at vishnu. Thats probably around 320-330 on a different dyno like ATP's in the bay area. Now add water injection to that and you could be right up there....

I am running a Vf 34 at 20 and still have a stock top-mount. I had my car tuned at turboxs and I put 298 to the ground 93oct. I was told I could make over 300 with a front mount( still not sure if I want to go with one). that 108+ is the main reason that he might not be talking out his ***. it is not like it matters that stocker will get super heat soaked after more then one run at 21
